Golf Club of Texas - San Antonio

"We found he Golf Club of Texas on Google Maps while searching for a new place for our Saturday lunch out. It was less than 25 minutes from our home but in a direction we seldom travel thus did not know what to expect other than this might be a typical golf course with a restaurant. We were very pleasantly surprised at the appointment of the clubhouse and restaurant; wedding and special event quality. From the clubhouse we could see a beautiful golf course well separated from busy areas of San Antonio. The menu variety was adequate with prices so low that we had to check twice to make sure. Service was very good, our food prompt and delicious, and the end bill very affordable. We encountered a table full of golfers who were reviewing a recent golf tournament for official critique and improvement. All were former military and half were Vietnam veterans. We were humbled in their presence, thanked them for our freedoms we enjoy as well as gave a long over due welcome home the Vietnam veterans. All in all, it was a fabulous dining experience that we will repeat in the future."

We got married here this weekend and the GCT event staff and venue were amazing! Bo returned our call about questions well after business hours, gave us the rate, and told us what we needed to know. He quickly scheduled our tour and we booked. This venue was amazing priced! The venue and staff sell them selves. Bo took great care of us and made sure our wedding happened our way. The venue staff were ready to handle any obstacle that came in the way. They helped set up, break down, and the service was above par’. The bar staff handled all our guests as if they were family and never got behind. Serving and kitchen staff served guests tentatively; they even made coffee for my grandma. The food and drinks were so good. Everyone was fighting over who got the remaining food!!! This venue was not only affordable but made You feel like family. I highly recommend it! Bo made our wedding the most stress free event. Thank you!

My husband and I got married here October 21, 2022 and we had an amazing experience! The view here is beautiful and we got some amazing pictures here! The staff helped me stay on track on all night, my guests had so much fun! Drinks were amazing. Thank you so much for my dream wedding! We were recommended to this venue from a friend who got married here as well! Amazing turn out!

The people that work here make this a great place! There are a lot of activities for everyone, and their involvement with two great programs, JrPGA and PGAHope, really shows their commitment to making golf a sport for everyone. The course is constantly getting improvements, and it's great to see the local high school and college athletes use the facilities to practice and compete.

The club house was very deceiving indicating a high quality and caliber golfing experience. Unfortunately the execution did not match, so allow me to elaborate. 1. Three marshalls on first hole then never seen again. Would have been very nice to move the six-some that was in front of faster. Total time to play first nine was over 3 hours. Back nine was less but that is because the six-some disappeared after hole 14. So pace of play was more near normal and we didn’t have to wait on every hole or shot. 2. Greens were freshly punched however no notice on website or during checkin. That would have been nice to know. I saw a review stating the course was being resodded, however I saw little indications of where this was the case or the excessive heat ruined their efforts, which would be unfortunate. 3. Tee boxes and greens were burned out and bare on most holes. Before someone says it is due to the San Antonio weather, go play Olmos Basin, Brackenridge, or the Quarry. 4. Greens were bumpy, slow and were impossible to read due to speed and conditions. 5. Driving range was closed because they “over watered”. This course was a dichotomy of conditions! There were areas were there was standing water and the course was swampy, then there were areas were the course was dry as a bone. Water coolers were not well positioned on the course either and were empty, on a very hot day. The mango iced towel bucket was a nice touch, but unfortunately the bucket was nasty and smelled rotten. It was actually brown inside. On the plus side there were plenty of beverage carts and thanks for having light colored golf cart seats. This course has potential but it needs some serious work and effort. I am just very happy I got a GolfNow hot time and didn’t pay full price.
